Meenvallam Waterfalls, a hidden gem in Palakkad district, cascades from as high as 45 metres into Thuppanadu River which originates from the Kalladikodan Hills.

Meenvallam Waterfall is a magnificent 5 step waterfall hidden amidst the lush forests of Western Ghats. The height of the waterfall ranges from 100 – 125 feet at each level. Only two of the five steps of the falls are accessible. The waterfall passes through Kalladikode Hills and disperses into different falls near River Thuppanad. Meenvallam waterfall is the final one out of the 10 waterfalls between Palakkad and Mannarkkad. Also known as Meenvallom, this waterfall is a great attraction especially during the winter, and is definitely a sight not to be missed during Palakkad trip.

A small hydel project, with an installed capacity of 3 MW has been constructed by the Palakkad District Panchayat at Meenvallam. The waterfalls and the surrounding area are protected and maintained by Thudikkode Vana Samrakshana Samithi of Olavakkode Range in Palakkad Forest Division. The forests surrounding the waterfalls are an extension of the Silent Valley National Park. Swimming/bathing is possible at these fall.

The water flows down the rocky terrain, creating a picturesque and soothing sight. The area around the waterfalls offers opportunities for trekking and hiking. There are well-marked trails that lead to various viewpoints, allowing visitors to enjoy different angles of the falls and the surrounding landscape.

The best time to visit Meenvallam Waterfalls is during the post-monsoon season, from September to March, when the water flow is at its peak, and the weather is pleasant. It is a popular spot for picnics and outings. Many locals and tourists visit Meenvallam Waterfalls for a day of relaxation and enjoyment amidst nature. The falls are easily accessible by road, and there is a parking area nearby. Visitors can take a short walk to reach the viewpoints from where they can witness the beauty of the falls.

Meenvallam Waterfalls provides excellent opportunities for photography, capturing the natural beauty of the cascading water, surrounding greenery, and the serene atmosphere. While visiting Meenvallam Waterfalls, you can also explore other attractions in Palakkad, such as Malampuzha Dam and Gardens, Palakkad Fort, and Dhoni Waterfalls.
