Pazhayangadi Mosque, Kondotti, is located 18 km east of Manjeri, on the way to Malappuram in Kerala. It is said to be built during 18th century and is also called as the Kondotty mosque. This mosque is dedicated to Muhammad Shah who was a holy man. He is popularly called as Kondotty Thangal. It is constructed in the Mughal style. The mosque has a magnificent dome and is white in color.This mosque has a white large dome that rises like a beacon among the rich green hilly environment.
Pazhayangadi Mosque is the first mosque built in the state for worship. Even if it is a centuries old mosque, it still impacts several devotees and pilgrims stunningly. Valiya Nercha or Kondotty Nercha is the most significant festival of this Muslim pilgrim center. This festival is celebrated either in the month of February or March and lasts for a week. Thousands of pilgrims flock to the mosque to participate in the festival. Several cultural programs including musical performances are performed to make the festival more colorful.
