People who plan a pilgrimage trip to the ancient churches and other holy sites in Kerala would add the Mortal remains of Saint Alphonsa located at Bharananganam in their travel itinerary. It is a thousand year old church which holds the mortal remains of this saint.
Saint Alphonsa lived in this region and recognized as a saintly woman during her lifetime. It is one of the most famous Christian pilgrim centers in the state. Even though it is a holy site belonging to Christian community, many people visit this place irrespective of caste
or religion to seek blessings from Saint Alphonsa.

Located on the picturesque banks of Meenachil River, this pilgrim center is in the Kottayam district almost 5 kilometers east of Pala.
Bharananganam is a hilly region blessed with natural beauty and plenty of vegetation. Thousands of devotees visit Bharananganam on July 28 every year which is the death anniversary of St. Alphonsa. One can watch so many things associated with the saint by visiting the Alphonsa Museum set in the compound of the church.
