Daporijo

Originally Dapo referred to “protection” or “the barrier” against the epidemic or evil spirits while Rijo stood for “the valley”. It hosts the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district. It is a beautiful town situated amidst endless hillocks, atop the river Subansiri, known for the Daporijo Bridge- a BRO undertaking as one of the swiftest ever: a bridge built in only 27 days in April 2020.

Whether  have time to just pass by or stay for a couple of days here, a visit to this scenic town deserves to be a part of  Arunachal trip. The small town is located beside the river Subansiri which enhances the aura of the place manifold.

The town is majorly popular for its bamboo forests, rice paddy fields, and soothing waterfalls. One of the most interesting things you can check on  visit to Daporijo is a suspension bridge made of bamboo and cane that spans over Subansiri River. Besides, the town also houses temple ruins that date back to the 10th and 14th centuries.
