The United Religions Initiative (URI) South India Regional Assembly, in collaboration with Interfaith Grassroots Cooperation Circles, convened a momentous gathering in Kulashekharam to celebrate the power of interfaith cooperation and harmonious coexistence. The event featured esteemed speakers, including URI Asia Director Bhavya Srivatsava and Regional Coordinator Dr Abraham Karickam.
URI is a global network of grassroots interfaith organizations dedicated to promoting peace, justice, and reconciliation among people of different faith traditions. The Kerala and Tamil Nadu Regional Assembly is a shining example of URI’s commitment to fostering unity and understanding across religious and cultural boundaries. More than ten new cooperation circles are honoured to join the URI Family.
During the assembly, Bhavya Srivatsava, URI’s Asia Director, emphasized the vital role that interfaith collaboration plays in building a more harmonious world. “We believe that understanding and respecting each other’s beliefs is the cornerstone of peaceful coexistence. Together, we can overcome the challenges that divide us and work towards a more unified and compassionate society,” Srivatsava said.
Abraham Karickam, the Regional Coordinator for Kerala and Tamil Nadu, highlighted the remarkable work being done by the interfaith grassroots cooperation circles in the region. “Our grassroots circles are catalysts for positive change. They bridge gaps, inspire dialogue, and encourage collaboration among diverse faith communities. We are proud to witness the growth and impact of these circles in our region,” Karickam shared.
The event brought together a diverse array of faith leaders, community members, and URI supporters, all committed to nurturing interfaith understanding and cooperation. Participants engaged in open discussions, shared experiences, and explored innovative ways to address local and global challenges through a lens of unity and peace.
The URI Kerala and Tamil Nadu Regional Assembly and Interfaith Grassroots Cooperation Circles intend to continue their work, promoting harmony, and interfaith cooperation throughout the region and beyond.

URI Peace Centre Director Joseph Chacko was honoured with Karma Sreshta Award for his meritorious contributions for the past 20 years.
