Located on the banks of River Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, and officially known Rajamahendravaram, Rajahmundry is the biggest city of the East and the West Godavari District in the state. Touted to be one of the oldest cities in India, Rajahmundry was founded in the 19th century by the Chalukya King- Raja Raja Narendra.
This Cultural Capital of Andhra Pradesh is also referred to as the ‘born city’ as it is believed to be the birth city of Telugu language. The Pushkara ghats, located along the river, is where the grand Pushkara festivals are held every 12 years. Sometimes referred to as Southern Bombay, Rajahmundry is also a prominent textile hub.
