Chembra Peak is one of the most famous and highest peaks in the Western Ghats of Kerala, India. It is located near the town of Meppady, in the Wayanad district, and is renowned for its scenic beauty, lush greenery, and trekking opportunities. Here’s some information about Chembra Peak:

Chembra Peak is part of the Western Ghats and stands at an elevation of about 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) above sea level. It is the highest peak in the Wayanad district and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The primary attraction of Chembra Peak is the trek to its summit. The trekking trail is approximately 3 kilometers one way and takes you through dense forests, lush grasslands, and rocky terrain. It’s a moderately challenging trek, and it’s advisable to hire a local guide for safety and guidance.

One of the highlights of the Chembra Peak trek is the heart-shaped lake, known as “Hridaya Saras,” located near the summit. This natural lake is believed to have never dried up and is a picturesque spot for trekkers to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. To trek to Chembra Peak, visitors are required to obtain a permit from the forest department. Additionally, there are regulations in place to protect the environment, and it’s essential to follow them, including not littering and not disturbing the local flora and fauna. The best time to visit Chembra Peak for trekking is during the post-monsoon season, from September to February, when the weather is pleasant, and the views are clear.

Due to the challenging terrain and altitude, it’s important to be adequately prepared for the trek. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, carry enough water, and be mindful of your physical fitness level.

Peak is not just a trekking destination but a place where nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, and photographers can connect with the unspoiled beauty of the Western Ghats. The trek offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural wonders of Wayanad while enjoying panoramic views from the summit.
